Engineering leadership, when delivery really matters

I take hands-on responsibility for technical direction and delivery, making the calls that unblock teams and get systems shipped.

I’m Jürgen Karir, a senior engineering leader with 20+ years building and delivering mobile and platform systems across startups, scale-ups, and regulated organizations.

How I work

Most of my work has been inside teams dealing with real constraints: unclear ownership, competing priorities, legacy systems, or delivery risk. I'm typically brought in when decisions need to be made and progress needs to be visible.

I focus on clarifying technical direction, unblocking teams, and making trade-offs explicit so work can move forward with confidence. That often means working across product, engineering, and stakeholders, and staying close enough to the work to be accountable for the outcome.

If you want more context on my background and how I arrived here, you can read more below.

Where my involvement changes outcomes
  • Early technical decisions with long-term consequences. When early architecture and delivery choices will determine whether teams move fast or accumulate drag for years. I help teams make those decisions deliberately, without overbuilding or locking themselves into brittle structures.
  • Delivery under pressure or ambiguity. Situations where ownership is unclear, priorities compete, or delivery has stalled. I step in to clarify direction, make decisions explicit, and restore momentum so progress is visible and predictable.
  • Scaling systems and teams at the same time. When scope, headcount, and complexity all increase together. I focus on keeping systems understandable and teams aligned so growth doesn't turn into friction.
Scope of responsibility
Engineering teams. Led or embedded with teams of 4–15 engineers, taking responsibility for technical direction, delivery decisions, and execution during periods of change or scale.
19
Mobile products shipped. Owned architecture and delivery across iOS, Android, and React Native in consumer, media, and regulated environments.
17
Production platforms. Launched and evolved web and backend platforms from initial build through long-term operation, including rebuilds under real-world constraints.

If delivery matters, let's talk.

I'm open to senior engineering leadership roles and conversations where ownership, judgment, and delivery matter. If you're navigating technical complexity, scaling teams, or delivery risk, I'm happy to connect.
